The second calf of the year has been born! We are so pleased to say that both mama and baby are healthy and thriving.

While we have to wait to introduce our first calf Ruby until she's able to graze on the grass and forage for herself, we hope these two will be able to run and play together soon 🤠🦬.

Hi all

This isn’t the update we wanted but it is a harsh reality of our beloved bison herd.

On Monday April 6th our first calf of the season was born. Mama gave birth earlier than expected. The calf was born and doing great unfortunately the same could not be said for her mama. About 2 days after giving birth she passed. Since this is the first calf of the season there are no other mama bison producing milk yet so adoption isn’t an option.

That’s where we’ve stepped in. We’ve got all the proteins and minerals a mother bison would produce at least as close as humans can get with a milk alternative. We’ve started bottle feeding the baby 4 to 5 times day, she’s taken to it well and is full of energy and s***k. While we prefer to let nature take its course, given the situation we are determined to take care of this baby.

Her name is Ruby, we will give updates as we can through this process as we hope to see a long happy life for this little one.

Please everyone send your thoughts and prayers.

Bison split marrow bones are hands-down a favorite for dog bones. 🦬

The split lets dogs enjoy the rich marrow right away as a special treat, and once it’s gone, they’re left with a durable, satisfying bone to keep chewing. Long-lasting, engaging, and a great enrichment option all in one.

Did you know? 🦬
Bison calves are often called “red dogs” because of their reddish-brown coats at birth. That rubbing behavior you’re seeing isn’t just cute—it helps strengthen the bond between mother and calf and reassures the calf it’s safe. As they grow, calves stick close to their mothers for protection and to learn how to survive in the herd.
