We have lots of good days on the homestead and lots of normal days too. Occasionally we have eventful days that can be exciting or sad. Yesterday we had probably a dog or two beak into our American Bresse chickens' run and kill 5 of the 6 chickens. Only one rooster remains. Then today I found that one of our hens from a different coop had gotten out and met the same fate probably from the same dog/s. Our American Bresse chickens were an investment not to mention from chick to laying is a long time. They are nearly irreplaceable at that point. We were preparing to incubate and grow/sell our own meat. It will take 6 months to get us back to that spot on e we have gotten some hatching eggs. Sad day.
