Suprise! Ginny had her babies last night! Things escalated quickly! Yesterday morning she was showing very little signs of labor and she was pretty chill most the day. I figured things were going to be slow since it was her first litter. I did chores at 8:45 last night and based off her signs I thought we would be having babies sometime during the day today. 9:00 or so she was acting like she was pushing I got kids in bed and was just watching the camera. I figured I would change my clothes and go check her and Joe calls me and says umm there are babies running around the crate! I’m like umm I just turned the camera off like 3 minutes ago I was just putting on pants! She gave me the first 3 babies in 5 minutes! In 2-2.5 hrs she gave me 11 babies with absolutely no help or no problems! She outshined her mother and sister and just calmly laid down and had babies, quickly! And she understood the assignment and gave us 9 males and 2 females! Perfect for feeder pigs! She was so patient and perfect with the babies! They are all nursing and she’s doing so good at being a momma! It was a great night in the barn with my momma and the new momma and we are full of babies everywhere! My momma heart is so happy! I could use a nap but things are looking great here at Rocky Ridge Grange!

Hey friends! We’re still over here impatiently waiting for Dixie to give birth…… this has been our first year of live cover from a boar and I remember why I started with AI 😂😭 it’s a guessing game now! How many more nights of sleep will I lose watching this sows behind!?

Hey guys and dolls! We’re over here patiently waiting on babies!

We have found our new normal here at the Grange! I decided to leave my job after 12 years and finally dive head first into our “5 year plan”…. 12 years later……
So RRG is back in full swing and hopefully producing beautiful babies!
I’m loving and embracing being home and doing the full time mom, farmer, property manager/business owner hustle and we’re getting back on track with these ladies.
On deck, or rather in the crate, we have DIXIE! Dixie was the first piglet ever born on our farm and she’s getting ready to deliver her 2nd litter any time now (tonight would be nice Dixie….) our herd boar Whips and Snouts aka whip or whippy poo understood the assignment and bred Dixie and her sisters!

Ok friends!
Things have shifted in our lives and we have to downsize the herd!
Up for grabs is:
1- 1.5 yr old Hampshire boar who is a love bug and the sweetest most gentle boar you’ve ever met!

1- 2-2.5 yr old Duroc sow had 2 previous litters laid down and had pigs!

1-hamp sow 2.5yrs old had 2 previous litters laid down and had beautiful babies and is super easy to work with!

1- hamp/berk cross sow 2 years old bred and born on my farm and has had 1 litter of 12 babies! Laid down and had no problems. Had to assist with the last few babies born because she was wore out but she was still doing the work I just helped.

1- Duroc boar born October 7, 2025 sired from Shipley Swine Genetics Duroc boar. He’s social and shaping up nicely. Long legs so he’ll be able to service the taller older ladies (his mother is the Duroc listed above)

All the ladies have been exposed to the hamp boar since November. I can’t confirm pregnancy. I am separating the boar from the ladies this afternoon and I will be watching to see if anyone comes into heat or not.

It’s painful to let them go but my loss is your gain. Selling below current market value so even if you butcher them you’re still ahead of the game. No hormones or nasty feed additives have ever been given. No one has received antibiotics in the last 4 months ( red sow received antibiotics after her delivery October 7) the rest haven’t had anything since their last deliveries early July!

I also have 2 old style farrowing crates up for dirt cheap.

The newest additions to the farm! A littler of Durocs! We had 5 live babies out of miss Fancy! They will be a week old tomorrow! 1 boar who will stay with us to add to the breeding program and 4 gilts that will be ready for their new homes in about 20 days!

Rocky Ridge Grange would like to wish Madie Farmery and “heavy cream” good luck at today’s show in Ohio! Heavy is the first show hog thag has been produced at RRG! We are so thankful for the opportunity to be represented in Ohio by a great kid!
