Fun tomato facts from the NC Tomato Growers!

They may look a little different, but they don’t take away from that fresh, flavorful tomato goodness. 🍅

Those cracks, scars and ripples are known as catfacing, and they can develop as tomatoes grow and respond to conditions in the field. They may look like flaws, but they’re a natural part of growing fresh produce and don’t define the tomato inside.

So the next time you see a North Carolina tomato with a few bumps and scars, give it a second look. It will still taste incredible!

It’s August … hot, humid, and lots of thunderstorms. With this August weather it’s normal to see more corn worms. If you see one, no worries. It’s harmless, and the majority of the corn is just fine. Shuck, trim off any damage from the top, and cook like normal.

Tommy will tell you he thought corn came with the top cut off until he was a teenager! 😉
