I was late starting my seeds this year and obviously planting as well. The plants have been doing fine until the storm Thurs. Cages blown over because I hadn't staked them yet. Nothing is as easy for me as it used to be.😔 Now one plant has wilted and not looking to great all of a sudden. I don't want to even say the late _____ word, but I hope it stays where ever it comes from.
I just wanted to say "Hello!" to all my past customers, I really do miss seeing you. Happy Gardening! Leaurel

I didn't think that I would plant this year, but couldn't stand it. I planted my seeds yesterday! Old habits. HA! I will have a very limited selection with only 3 or 4 plants available per variety for sale. Hopefully by the end of March. If you are interested in reserving a particular variety let me know. I have included my card for each one. [email protected] or 704-467-0685 If I get a good response, I MIGHT plant more. Leaurel L**e, Concord, NC

Hello Heirloom Tomato lovers. If you have saved your seeds, you should be getting ready to plant any time now. I always planted on Valentines Day. However, earlier is better. If you have the proper environment to give the plants enough light and warmth, then go ahead and plant. I personally buy the little kit with the dry peat disks in a covered tray. You water the disks and they swell up, then you dig a little spot in the peat and plant, 3 or 4 seeds is fine. I draw a grid on paper and record each cell very carefully to keep each variety documented. You can transplant into 4" pots as soon as the plants get there secondary leaves. Some plants develop faster than others, so plan on pulling those out as needed for potting. I wanted to let everyone know that because of health issues, I may not be selling plants this year. Not totally sure yet. You are welcome to call
704-467-0685 with questions I typically start selling the end of March, but I will post an update if I do plant.
I do have seeds for MOST of my varieties that I would sell if you are interested. I am in Concord, NC
Saving heirloom seeds of all kinds is more important than most people realize. Our future depends on it!
If you haven't visited heirloom seeds companies online, I would suggest Baker' Creek and Seed Savers. Amazing selections.

Don't forget to save your heirloom seeds for future plantings. Not for just next year, but many years to come.
Pick fully ripe tomatoes. Into a small jar: Remove the seeds, pulp & juice from the tomato. Add enough water to double the amount of tomato. LABEL the jar with the variety of tomato that you are saving!!! You can cover the jar with thin cloth and rubber band, but I don't.. Left set out for 5-7 days. Mold will grow on the top of the water. This fermenting process increases the % of germination in your seeds. After the 5-7 days, gently pour off the film on the top of the tomato/water. Fill the jar half full with fresh water. Take a tea strainer and pour the water/tomato seeds though the strainer and rinse really well under running water to get any pulp out leaving nice clean seeds. Take a coffer filter (write the name of the tomato on the outside of the filter) empty the strainer onto the coffee filter. Let it set out for a week or 2 for the seeds to dry really well. Then fold your filter into a nice square and put into an envelope after labeling the envelope. I have 150 plus varieties to keep track of, that is why I stress the labeling. This sounds like a long complicated process, but once you do it, you will see how easy it is and the benefits are countless. Enjoy!

This rain has drowned my tomatoes. There are a few that look like they might make it, but it is a sad state of affairs.
Some you have contacted me to see if I had any plants left....the answer in "I only wish!" In July we will be crying for rain, but for right now, I just want it to stop. Happy Gardening!
