Join us for chocolate 🍫 pecan 🥧, fresh baklava, and Kataifi-baklava (version of baklava but with shredded wheat).

This is the last of my lineup.

Thank you everyone for the love and support with my baking throughout the years. I’ll be back one day, not as a part of The Gateway but you’ll see me again 😜! My baking journey doesn’t end here, it’s just going on pause while I focus on bringing another precious life into this world.

I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed serving you guys and getting to sweeten your days the way so many of you sweetened mine.

Happy Holidays, stay safe and God bless you all.

XOXO 😘

Friday I will have apple 🍎 🍏 crumble pie chunks available for purchase!

Saturday is BROWNIE day! 🥳 🍫

Next week is my last week 😭 at Gateway, I will post what I’m making when I have it ready for sale 🙂.

On a side note baby Ava’s ultrasound went well, measuring at 5.5 lbs and if my gestational diabetes stays under control as it has been they may let me deliver at 38 weeks instead of 36! That’s great news for me and baby girl. Mom is coming from Greece 🇬🇷 to stay with us for a little bit and help out so she may actually make it on time! Praying my sugars stay controlled and my amniotic fluid doesn’t get worse. I believe God will protect this baby girl just as he did with our sweet Mia. Can’t wait to see our little girl. Also, that’s arguably the hardest part about baking is not being able to sneak a bite of anythinggggg 😆. I decided I’m making an apple pie and freezing it for when I return from the hospital 🤣.

Baklava is available and honestly it might be my best pan to date. Last baklava for Gateway 😭. Stop by and enjoy it while it lasts. ❤️

Today I added my fluffy coconut cake with a light layer of coconut 🥥 🌴 buttercream, topped with chopped white Belgian chocolate.

Saturday I’ll restock baklava.

Next week I’m leaning towards apple pies and my belgian chocolate brownies. I’ll post when they are ready for sale 🙂.

Not sure of what I’ll have the last week of this month but I’ll have something, then the countdown begins for the arrival of our sweet Ava.

When I initially posted that I won’t be baking after October it was due to the now public knowledge that we are closing down the restaurant permanently at the end of November…unless of course somebody with a vision stumbles upon us and we can pass on the torch and have them continue our legacy. Twenty years…doesn’t quite seem real at times.

Anyways, I wanted to fill the displays until the last day but with my due date seemingly changing with every other ultrasound I don’t know if baby girl will be here the beginning of November or the end (she was initially due early December)! Even that in itself seems unreal. Multiple loses…we were told it wasnt in the cards for us…and now look at us, we have not just one amazing daughter but two! God sure works in mysterious ways.

I could go on and on but I know people don’t like long posts 😆.

Stop by the rest of this month and purchase a dessert (or a bunch of them), your support will forever be held dear to our hearts.

Don’t forget to get your Greek food in this month and next! We’d love to see as many of your familiar faces as possible—and if you know of a Greek food fanatic that’s wanting to start a new adventure send them our way! The restaurant is priced at a killer deal, if there was ever a time to jump in it’s now! 🇬🇷 💙

After twenty years it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for the memories, the patronage and the love shown towards us as a family. 🩷

To the faithful,

To all our loyal, faithful and longtime guests, it is with deep regret and emotion that we will bid you one last farewell on November 29th, 2025.

After a long and sometimes rocky 20 years we have decided to retire from the restaurant business and we have all made the choice to move on to the next chapter in our lives.
Our current lease will expire 11/30/2025 and the landlord has been informed that we will not extend or renew.

The goal is to sell the business as is. We are hoping to find a buyer who would like to simply take over The Gateway in its current state and continue to bring you the dining experience you have all enjoyed for so many years.

I, Scott Gould, am willing and able to guide new ownership and provide all the tools needed to continue with no major changes. However, the choice is not mine. It will be up to the buyer as to whether or not they keep the same concept or bring in something different (with landlord approval).

Our success was built solely on those we have served and provided a pleasurable dining experience for so many years. While The Gateway To Athens will close or be taken over by new ownership the memories will remain with the Gould family for many years to come.
Again, our sincere and heartfelt thanks to those who have stopped in for a meal and after returning for a second and third have become so much more than another customer. You have become friends and family to all of us here at The Gateway.

I have listed the business with “wesellrestaurants.com” however, if you know someone interested in acquiring a well established restaurant at a very reasonable price please have them reach out. Scott Gould 704-699-2713.

Many, many regards and our heartfelt thanks for becoming a part of our lives and allowing us to become a part of yours.

The Gould Family and our Staff at The Gateway To Athens.

If you would, please share our post to help us spread the word. We look forward to serving you the last month and a half. ♥️

Hello everyone! I haven’t been on social media much these days. I’m in my third trimester and with it being a high risk pregnancy it’s been rough. Honestly this pregnancy has been soooo much harder than with Mia. Point being I am SO grateful to be here, this is our 6th pregnancy and will be our 2nd earth born child. Our four babies in Heaven are watching down and sending their love I am sure. Baby Ava is set to arrive by the end of November or the first week of December, as we get closer my energy seems to be diminishing by the minute. I am constantly busy with my sweet toddler Mia and that leaves very little time for much of anything else, sadly that includes my baking. I have been doing custom orders and some light baking for Gateway but that will soon be coming to an end. I will not be doing much baking (if any at all) after the last week of October.

I wanted to thank all of you for your support and love throughout the years and let you know I will be back, but I have to focus all my energy on resting and preparing for the arrival of our little pot of gold baby—Ava.

I will post any updates as they come in regards to my baking journey and while I’ll be stepping away for a little bit to focus on my family I am not giving up on this, baking has been a passion of mine for the last decade and I’ve come a long way with it—who knows what comes next for me when it comes to that. My top priority right now is being a momma but that doesn’t mean I won’t be back later on down the road—the future is limitless and I have big dreams that are yet to be fulfilled.

Thank you all and catch me at Gateway for the next month or so until my temporary leave.

XO 😘
Brandi

I thought I had the best chocolate figured out for my brownies…I was WRONG. I recently started using Guittard chocolate in addition to my chocolate from Belgium and while it is ridiculously expensive in the quantities I use it is so much better. I really feel like I’ve finally found the perfect chocolate for my brownies. If you have a sweet tooth and you LOVE chocolate stop by today and buy a brownie and let me know! I have my classic triple chocolate and my sea salted caramel brownies! I also have other things too like two kinds of baklava and cheesecake but this is for those chocoholics…RUN and get you a slab before they sell out! 😋 🤤 🍫
