It’s that time of year again, trying to help all the plants take off and begin to grow. This is a new product we are using this year it’s called Stilo PSR, it’s used to help and enable the plants to be more efficient at utilizing the nitrogen that is available ti them. This is also the time of year we try and combat the weeds since they are at the easiest stage to get under control. All of this in the hopes of producing a great forage product for all our valued customers we are so thankful for.

Folks, for all that are going to and have used any hay type forage, we really need some rain this spring. According the the USDA, majority of North Carolina is in a drought if not a severe drought. This will directly affect tonnage and quality this spring harvest season. The second impact is the increase in fertilizer due to other global issues. I have posted below some pictures for your viewing of the areas affected. I would expect to see roughly a 15% increase in hay products this year is these trends continue into the summer months.

Like many, farmers and ranchers are an essential employee to the economy. All your food starts with them that you may consume at some point in time. If you see them out in the bad weather, trust me it’s not because they want to be out in it, ļæ¼but because they have to. Livestock need more help and care during these times than any other. Please give plenty of space to the equipment on the roads and most of all be courteous and patient with them.

We stocked the feeders as heavy as we could in hopes it will last a little longer until it’s safer to get back out on the roads. Even with the hay forage available, we are still supplementing all the cows with grain to help them maintain body temperature and growth. Snow isn’t bad for them but the ice can cause severe footing issues and mobility struggles. Everyone stay safe out there. We still have fescue round bales and alfalfa square bales available. If you’re in need of either, reach out after the weather clears up and we’ll do our best to assist you.

We will be selling one of our Breeding bulls here in about a month. Absolutely nothing wrong with him, it’s just his time in the schedule to be replaced this year. Here is his identification Number AAA 19927788. He is very docile and easy to work around, calves do great growing and well at the market. There is a picture of some of his calves below. If you have any interest in him sent us a PM and we’ll set up a time to come look at him. Thanks
