We are so grateful for the recent rainfall 🌧️ ☔️. That only means you get a chance to work on some equipment and do needed PM servicing. The 🚜 John Deere 6110M got the annual oil change, fuel filter change, air filters blown out along with the cover screens, and of course a lite wash. These pieces of equipment 🚜 use gallons of oil not quarts like normal vehicles. All of this helps to lengthen the longevity and efficiency. Farmers are not just farmers 🧑‍🌾 , but 🔧mechanics🪛 and anything else that has to be fixed around the farm. The afternoon gave us time to set up the sod drill for some warm weather forage seed drilling. 20.5 turns and a weight ⚖️ measurement 🧮 then put into a formula will give you the rate you’ll sow to an acre. 1/8” of an inch adjustments can mean +\- 10lbs of seed to the acre. We have to be accurate to not waste 💵 💸, but also make sure it’s putting out enough to reach the return we’re after 🌾 🌾. Last but not least we loaded some feed for the 🐮 to keep them happy and growing.

Early warning for all livestock owners in the southeast. Looking at forage production numbers around, I would highly recommend stocking up on hay products earlier than normal this year. From just our farm, we are seeing a 70% drop in production rates so far just on alfalfa. Fescue is not looking any better and in some areas worse. Fingers crossed the extended forecast holds true for the Memorial Day weekend.

Alfalfa is available. Roughly 225 bales currently. $16 a bale if buying 11 or more. $20 a bale if 10 or less. Send a PM if interested. Hay supplies in the southeast look to be short this year.

It’s that time of year again, trying to help all the plants take off and begin to grow. This is a new product we are using this year it’s called Stilo PSR, it’s used to help and enable the plants to be more efficient at utilizing the nitrogen that is available ti them. This is also the time of year we try and combat the weeds since they are at the easiest stage to get under control. All of this in the hopes of producing a great forage product for all our valued customers we are so thankful for.
