Where the spirit of the gold rush meets off-grid, regenerative farming!

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of Texas Farms Vermont!

We know what you’re thinking, “…..Texas? In Vermont?!” If you’re thinking there MUST be a story there, you would be right! Our farm sits on old farmland that a young lad once called home. He was caught up in the westward migration frenzy of the gold rush and was desperate to join in. He vowed that he was going to leave for Texas and would never have to use his side-plow ever again. In fact, he told so many people in town that when he eventually stayed and settled at his ancestral home, the townsfolk declared the area Texas. Though he didn’t make it to Texas (not in Vermont), his farming legacy lives on in us. Over the past four years, we’ve built our off-grid, regenerative farm from the ground up on the side of a wooded mountain. No electricity, no roads—just the determination to raise real food in harmony with the land.

At a time when much of our food is mass-produced and questionable, we’re dedicated to doing things right:

• Heritage Breed Livestock– Heritage breed livestock are an irreplaceable piece of earth’s biodiversity and offer incredible variety that may be needed for future farms – robust health, mothering instincts, foraging, and the ability to thrive in a changing climate. These farm animals are a vital part of ensuring food security for our planet – now and for the future!

• Open-Pollinated + Heirloom Produce – The vast majority of the produce we grow here in Texas are open-pollinated and heirloom varieties. Open-pollinated and heirloom varieties compose an irreplaceable genetic resource that contributes to the security of our future food supply.

• Regenerative Methods – We practice no-till farming, meaning the soil is disturbed as little as possible. This allows us to limit soil erosion, capture carbon in the soil, use less amendments and fertilizers, limit the use of large farming equipment, and foster the health of the microbiome in the soil.

If you are wondering where you can buy our products, you can visit our online farm shop today! Our heritage breed pork ships every Monday and your meat will arrive in 1 – 2 days, packed snuggly in insulated packaging with dry ice. Please note, we have a 5lb minimum for all shipped orders. Over the summer you will also be able to find us at local farmers markets, details to come over the coming months.

Our Farm Story
The last four years have been an absolute wild ride! Did you think creating a farm from scratch wouldn’t be? By popular demand, we have decided to write a book chronicling the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
