Once again, we are super dry. Started supplementing the cows with some hay and giving the calves 1lb of steer feed a day about 6 weeks ago. I bumped the calves up to 1.5lbs 2 days ago. Not all of the calves come in for grain, but it helps the ones that want it. It's interesting to watch them squeeze into the space at the wooden feeder. Calves are sired by 2 Ehlke Hereford bulls E 737 Kimber H034 (Sig) and E 65J Broker L47 (Maverick). Average age on this year's calf crop is 139 days (4.55 Months). We start calving normally on March 10th. I let the bull out a week early last year. Like everywhere else we could sure use several good rain storms.
