As the weather warms up, our baby goats are getting introduced to spending time on the pasture to stretch their legs. They take full advantage of their playtime, running and jumping to their hearts content! Followed by some solid naps in the shade, of course. 🥰

Baby season is in full swing at the farm and the cuteness is unreal! 😍

Now that my assistant Katie is back from a quick camping trip we'll be well staffed to bring some sweet baby goats for a visit to the Freedom Farmer's Market this Saturday. Stop by and say hello!

P.S. I also included a bonus picture of our other market volunteer Tuco on his camping adventure. 😊

We're excited to say that Decimal Place Farm will be back at the Freedom Farmer's Market this Saturday, March 14th. We will have limited quantities of cheese, especially Feta, but we'll have our usual chevre options as well as some fun seasonal offerings! We look forward to seeing everyone!

Taking a moment to show some love to the crew whose hard work helps keep things going here at the farm! We've been doing a lot of tidying and maintenance during our break from market, and they've approached every task with smiling faces. Whether it's trimming hooves, fighting thorn bushes, fixing fences, or cleaning up the garden, they give it their all and we appreciate them greatly for it.

Announcement: taking some time off for baby goats!

We'll be taking a break from attending the Freedom Farmer's Market for the next few weeks so that we can let our girls rest as we get ready for the first of the babies to be born! With limited milk production we just won't have enough to go around until after we welcome the first few baby goats onto the farm.

We appreciate all of our loyal supporters and can't wait to be back to see everyone in March!

We've been enjoying the warmer days this week, and the girls have too! Even in the months where most of the plants are still sleeping, there are lots of great snacks in our pastures for the herd to munch on. We seed our fields with hardy cover crops like Austrian winter pea, and the forests provide some variety with evergreens, bark, and spring buds. Happy goats agree that variety is the spice of life!

Today the herd is hanging out in the pasture behind the house, out of the wind and enjoying the sunshine. These girls are hard at work growing our springtime babies! Cercini is our oldest matriarch and she's working overtime. This time of year is when we're at our lowest milk production so that these gals can focus on what's important - BABY GOATS! 🐐

A glimpse into one of the less glamorous but very important parts of what we do - fixing fences! While baby goats and delicious cheese can be more exciting there's something serene about being out in the pasture listening to the creek while fixing something with your own two hands. Trees fall and life happens, and this is just a part of what makes all of this work each and every day.

Starting off the new year reflecting on a doe who has eight daughters in our current herd. Ida was a goat that totally pulled her weight when she was milking and was a totally great animal. Her linear appraisal score was 91 and she even posed all by herself for photos at the fairs!

So thrilled to participate in this event. All chefs were very talented, tastes were incredible.
