Yesterday, Mother Nature had other plans, and we got rained out. 🌧️ But guess what? We're back at it TODAY! 💪🇺🇸
Many of the vendors who weathered the storm are coming back, setting up again, and hoping to make the most of this weekend. And folks, we really need your support!
For small businesses like Patriot Jerky, events like Hickory Oktoberfest aren't just a fun weekend — they're an important part of how we make a living. 🎄🇺🇸 PATRIOT JERKY IS HIRING — HOLIDAY SEASONAL HELP! 🇺🇸🎄

Looking for a little extra money for the holidays?
Want to work for a small, local business where your work actually matters?

Patriot Jerky is looking for a dependable, friendly person to join our team for the holiday season!

This is a hands-on position with a variety of responsibilities. You'll be helping customers, running the register, keeping things organized, and helping us keep the shop looking great during one of our busiest times of the year.

🕐 THE SCHEDULE

Minimum 3 days per week

• 2 weekdays: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Maximum 3 Saturdays per month

🇺🇸 WHAT YOU'LL DO

🛒 Cashier & checkout
😊 Provide friendly, helpful customer service
📦 Organize and maintain inventory
🧹 Light janitorial duties — dusting, sweeping & mopping
🧽 Help keep the shop clean, organized and presentable
🤝 Help create a great experience for our customers

👊 WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who is:

✔️ Reliable and dependable
✔️ Friendly and comfortable talking with customers
✔️ Able to work independently and stay productive
✔️ Organized and pays attention to detail
✔️ Clean, neat and professionally presentable while working
✔️ Willing to pitch in wherever needed
✔️ Has reliable transportation
✔️ Willing to complete a background check

This isn't a job where you'll spend your shift watching the clock. We're a small business, and everyone pitches in. If you see something that needs to be cleaned, organized or taken care of—you take care of it.

If you're dependable, have a good attitude, enjoy working with people and want to help a local small business make it through the holiday rush, we want to hear from you!

There is a time to fight! There is a time to defend yourself, hold someone accountable, and when absolutely necessary, remove a threat. But that should never be where we start. Start with respect. Start with kindness. Start with mercy.

Start by treating people like human beings, even when you disagree with them. Give people the benefit of the doubt when it is deserved. Help when you can. Walk away when you can. Speak the truth without needing to humiliate someone.

Being decent isn't weakness. Mercy isn't surrender. Kindness doesn't mean you allow yourself or others to be abused. It means you have the discipline to choose the better response before choosing the harder one.

The world doesn't need more people looking for reasons to be angry, offended, or ready for confrontation. It needs more people who understand that strength is having the ability to act, but the wisdom to know when not to.

Be respectful. Be kind. Be merciful.

And when those things are no longer enough, stand your ground and do what must be done. But always strive to be a decent human being first. That is strength under control.
