2 more buck kids born today, both to first time moms.

One was an ET from our flush in December (8262 Southerlands Acres Mistress x CDAF Bodacious)

the other was a 12 pound buck kid that was an embryo from 2 years ago. We implanted 6 frozen embryos in to 3 does, resulting in 3 live kids..1 doe and 2 bucks. They are BXFRM Parkers Rave x Caprioles Cool Your Aces.

We had 1 buck kid that we found at 4am that had already passed (no idea why). The joys of livestock! Someone better be enjoying the doe fairy because she definitely wasn’t here!

Now we just have 2 saanen dairy does that are left to kid.

Started our last round of kidding with doe/buck twins. Recip momma Bernadette had them unassisted and is a great milker!

AK Livestock Topsy-Turvey kidded a 11.6 pound buck kid this afternoon. Gotta love them when the birth and get them up and going with no help! And this evening we were able to graft another buck kid on to Topsie (the other doe is battling mastitis).

Doe #2 got my message Came home from errands after church and had a doe in labor BXFRM Sweet Tea kidded a big set of twins. One 11.2 pound buck and. 9.6 pound doe kid. The buck kid has a white heart in his cape. Huge shoutout to our local vet who came to assist due to the big buck kid in a bad position!

Started kidding season off with a bang! BXFRM Dancin Fancy Like had twin buck kids very early this morning. 9.6 and 10.4 pounds. Mom and babies are doing great! Now if the others would kindly have does during “normal “ hours!! Someone forgot to tell them that I’m too old to be up half the night!

Woke up this morning so bummed! We were supposed to leave today for Denver to show at the National Western. We made the decision to stay home due to the dangerous wind chills and 8-12 inches of snow they are predicting! To all our friends still making the trip—stay safe, have fun, and we’ll be cheering for you online!

We had a first yesterday..and one we really dont want to repeat. Had a doe that needed a c section due to a breech baby. Unfortunately that buck kid was deceased, BUT we had a healthy 9.4 pound doe kid out of AK Livestock Brown Chicky Brown Cow and TST1 BSMF Absolute Power NGC. Huge shoutout to Dr Pauly our local vet for taking such good care of Chicky. Momma and baby are doing great!
