Bar 3 is officially sold out of ground beef! And roast. And steaks. If you came to see us at the market today, thank you so much. If we were not able to fulfill your needs, we apologize. But hang tight with us. We’ll have more available late this fall. We have to be patient as we wait through this drought and excessive heat Mother Nature has thrown at us. Farm updates will be coming at you tomorrow. Y’all have a good weekend!

It is now 8pm and my little guy is on his 5th bottle of the day. Branch and Porter are back at bull do**in practice so I have all the chores. My day started at 6:30am feeding him. I am meal prepping while they are gone. They’ll probably get home around midnight. It’s been a busy day. Everyone thinks baby calves are fun until they have to feed them everyday.

It is 6am on a Saturday morning and I am feeding this baby calf before going to the market. I’ll come back home for all the feeding chores then off to watch Porter at rodeo camp. I’ll do it all over again tomorrow. Sounds like fun, right?!?

Remember ‘lil bit that got rescued last weekend? Well, we had to rescue her again last night. She is a premie born to a new momma. Sometimes those mommas don’t know how to take to their first calf. We found her last night listless and stressed. So we brought her up to the house for a bottle, which she did not take. She was relaxed enough this morning to take this entire bottle on her own. I am using a hydration supplement called Formula 911. It is loaded with electrolytes, nutrients, sugars, and probiotics. We’ll do a straight up formula bottle tonight. Our goal is to get some weight and energy back in her. Hopefully momma will take her once she rebounds. If not, I have an orphan.

Welcome to just another day on our farm. Branch was moving cattle at 8am while I got my farm run in. Met back up at 11am for a brunch meeting for the day. Got Porter lined out on cutting 15 acres of hay while we went on to do cattle fence, restock minerals, move chickens, move goats and sheep, mow, and cleanup around the house. Set back out at 5pm to check on Porter in the hay field. Showed up just as we saw the hydraulic line blow. Not 2 minutes later a search truck showed up for a jet that crashed in a bean field just down the road. Back home at 7pm to throw some quick brats on the grill and call it a day.

Tomorrow is replacing the hydraulic line and continuing to work in the hay field. We will also be restocking feed for the horses, chickens, dogs, goats, and sheep.

Today just wasn’t our day. It’s sometimes just how it is when farming. I woke up at 4am to start coffee and prepping for the market. By 4:30am we had a huge thunderstorm sitting right on top of us. I checked the weather and it was going to last for another good hour or hour and a half. That’s just the time we are supposed to be rolling out of here. So I made the executive decision at 5:30am to withdraw our attendance from the market. Everyone back to bed! Except Branch. He had to hit the road at 6:30am for Texas.

Although we missed the market, we were still able to get deliveries done today. We appreciate y’all so much! ❤️

Made it home to get farm chores and office work done before we found a problem. This little premie calf was born about 2 weeks ago. We have been watching her pretty close. Porter found her today while out checking cattle. She got left behind on the last move. A quick rescue and she is back with momma. She will be getting some electrolytes and formula the next few days.

Tomorrow is our big work day. I’ll try to get more pics while we’re out in the field.

As always, thanks for tagging along and understanding when the weather takes over. We appreciate you! 😊

Catch ya later! 🤞

Farm updates…
Haven’t had any in awhile because it’s been so busy, and honestly, we’re just trying to survive this HEAT!!! So far, we haven’t lost any animals. I usually loose some layers when it’s this hot. I did loose my garden though, it fried.

Porter is done hauling hay and will continue to bush hog. He has a pattern that he has to follow that correlates with the cattle rotation.

Goats and sheep are doing great. They are in a paddock right now that is literally in my front yard. So if you drive up to see me, be sure and give them a look.

Baby chicks arrive in September. We take a full 12 weeks of raising before we harvest. Our next full restock will be in December. We do have a limited amount of ground and wings available.

We hired a hand to help us do some pasture improvement that we aren’t capable of doing ourselves. The improvements that have been made are incredible. This will allow us extra grazing options, stockpile areas, more seed planting, and basically a better use for these areas we haven’t been able to maintain. This will also give us the pasture space we need to increase our herd.

New business cards have been ordered. They are slick! You can expect to see them with this logo and color. Hoodies are next!

Eggs! After a much needed and deserved break, our layers are back in production. We have plenty available.

Conway delivers are as normal for this week.

Now on for the WLRFM….thank you to all who stop by our booth and support us. We will have extra ground beef packed along with the extra cuts that are popular. Please note that we are down to the very last of our ribeyes, ny strips, and chuck roast. If you know ahead of time that you want any of those cuts that are limited, please message ahead of time and I can save them. Sadly, our market days will be coming to an end soon for the season. Between rodeos, college baseball, and ultra runs this fall, we have busy weekends ahead. Take these next market days of ours available to fill your freezer. You can expect to see us 8/8, 8/15, 8/29. After that I can’t make any promises. See you Saturday!
