Wow, With all that is going on in the country, it seems I haven't been on this page since FOREVER according to the last post. With that being said, overall things are good here. We're working with our Vet (MD) for something they found in Cinder's annual blood test.

We don't know a lot about her parents since we rescued her from being sent to the pound when a friend got her sister. We already had 5 on the ranch some days when my daughters 2 came to visit or stay...but we couldn't allow a baby to be sent to the pound as the last of the litter before the family moved out of state. So for $50.00 we took her in. The Absolute lowest we had ever paid to get a dachshund. She grew into the sweetest thing we have ever had, and stepped into the head role when it came her turn. (so now shes bossy some).

She was diagnosed last week with Polycythemia ( a rare blood cancer) where her body creates to many red blood cells and thickens her blood. We've read all the documents they gave us over the weekend and I'm emailing her Doctor today with questions.

From what I've read, she has two treatment paths....Bleeding her down and some kind of intervals.......or chemotherapy. We're not going to put her through Chemo...we had dealing with this some with Charlli. They had given him 3-5 months without anything and he lived a happy, and loving 18 months on his other meds. Loving to eat and be loved in everyone's lap no matter who came by.

The thing is, Cinder shows no outward signs...she runs, plays chases squirrels, and does everything...We're perplexed.

Well, we have a new addition to the Doxy Ranch!. This is Minnie (mouse). She came here to be fostered for 2 weeks while waiting transport to a forever home (hopefully) in Charlotte NC.

Turns out we are the "worst Foster Parents ever" according to our Daughter and Son.

The truth is, Sierra had just crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and Cinder was not doing well with being alone even tho my office is at home. She has never been "alone" since birth. We were called about Minnie, and said yes hoping Cinder would at least tolerate her till the move.......turns out, they became friends, and Minnie was really happy here. Its been awhile since we had a puppy so its kind of exhausting!. Casey brought Olivia and Caddee over and she also gets along with them perfect.

So...Welcome Home Minnie!.

Sierra our 15 year old dachshund crossed over the rainbow bridge tonight. Such a sweet baby. She can now romp with her sister Abbey and brother Charlli. Love you Sierra! No more pain.....thank you for being in our family and watching over the ranch.

Anyone who can/will, please send up good vibes, thoughts, or prayers for my sweet Olivia. We have dropped everything and left for Mount Pleasant where a team of specialists are waiting for her arrival to evaluate and treat her. She needs emergency back surgery as she is currently paralyzed from the ribs down, isn't producing urine, and is declining. I can honestly say I have never felt so helpless in my life as I do now with her looking at me confused, searching for answers. All I can do is hold onto her for dear life. Casey.
