Thoughts on a cold winter morning …. There is nothing more exciting than new life !! As we sit in the barn (since2:30am) having new baby pigs being born. I have time to think and put life in perspective.

What value do we put on life?

We (Farmers) will go days sometimes weeks on little or no sleep to care for crops and livestock. Why?? Well mostly because it’s who we are it’s in our DNA we get some kind of twisted satisfaction out of spending every last ounce of energy, every last cent, and every last minute seeing something through to the finish. All for new life, a new crop a new living breathing animal.

Ponder this …. While our life here on earth is but a few grains of sand compared to eternity, are we willing to put in this kind of time effort and money into seeing it through to the finish for our freinds, neighbors, co-workers, families to all have “new life” in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!

Everyone will spend eternity somewhere!

Jesus came so that none should perish but ALL could have eternal life.

God so loves YOU that he sent his one and only son so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life!!!

One of my friends asked, "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to show lambs/cattle?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids to show lambs and cattle.

So, if I am not paying for them to show, what am I paying for?

- I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't.

- I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go the barn but go anyway.

- I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined.

- I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body.

- I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates.

- I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't win what they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the grading.

- I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals.

- I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight.

- I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships.

- I pay so that my kids can be in the ring instead of in front of a screen...

...I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for show lambs/cattle I pay for the opportunities that showing lambs provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far, there is no greater investment out there.

And just like that farm fest is over thanks to all that stopped by to see us we had a great time made some new friends to which we hope we get to see for many years to come .... we were asked what we offer well here’s a short list we offer 1/2 or whole hogs delivered to the butcher and all you have to do is pick it up and take home to enjoy we also offer fresh eggs and have farm fresh beef for sale by the half or whole as well coming next year we will be offering high quality Berkshire pork also we are currently looking into some options for growing a wide variety of vegetables to offer as well.... we will keep you posted

Sorry it’s been awhile we are still here just been busy with local fairs and changing In town employment. We will have a few hogs ready to go to butcher in 4-6 weeks let us know if anyone is needing 1/2 or even a whole... been adding to our stock and will have some berkshires available next spring. Still getting plenty of farm fresh eggs if your in need of those.

Don’t miss out on the ag and urban fest tomorrow (Saturday) they will have barrel racing in the main arena as well as a steer and heifer preview show at the Boyd arena plus come wander through the E-Plex it’s full of vendors selling all sorts of services and goods
Lots of horse supplies and accessories

We will have eggs available at the show if anyone needs them.

Don’t forget to say hi to Ms. Oreo she loves the attention .... it was a pretty low traffic day so she is feeling lonely.

It’s cold out this morning but we are ready to go... we are proud to host the Laclede County 4H Livestock judging team out this morning to judge a group of market hogs. If you are one of the lucky ones who have a hog ordered for January they are going in next Friday so you should have fresh bacon about 10 days after that

We care for pigs rain or shine,hot or cold not sure what’s been worse the extreme cold or the excessive mud we have now. Always entertaining here looking forward to rising temps tomorrow and spring just around the corner!!!
