Even as a child, he knew he wanted to farm. After high school, Wayne enrolled at Tennessee Tech in Plant and Soil Science and paid his way through crop farming, hogs, cattle,and tobacco. After graduating, Wayne married a N.J. girl (Charlene)
who also graduated in animal science from TTU. After years of a major hog operation and tobacco, big-time farming seemed to become a thing of the past. Hogs got cheap and tobacco was bought out. This, however, would not deter Wayne from farming. Though Wayne and I were blessed with a great job as rural carriers for the U.S. Postal Service and 3 great children, Wayne was determined to get into a new kind of farming. Henceforth came Little Creek Produce, named after our farm.Wayne could see a need for locally grown produce. He was determined to grow vegetables that were as organically grown as possible and were affordable for the people in and around Cookeville. Plus it had to be attractive and tasty. My husband researches, reads, and attends every kind of meeting available to achieve that goal. After a decade or so of working 60 to 70 hrs./wk. Wayne and I are proud of what we have accomplished. We still have lots to do and are excited about providing the best and healthiest produce available. If you haven't met us , please come out and do so.
