I really thought I was about to RUN OUT of cookies today. 😂

I brought about 100 cookies to Broadway Boutique thinking, “If I sell all these, that would be a GREAT day.”

By 2 PM, I was down to around 40.

By the time I packed up?

About 10 left. 😳

What got me most was seeing so many of my regulars come find me at a brand-new location. Y’all did not have to do that, and I appreciate it more than you know.

I also got to meet Jana B Sparkles and Catherine from Longhorn Coffee Trailer—two really fun highlights from an already great day.

Thank you to Carissa Ann, the Broadway Boutique team, everybody who shared the posts, and every single person who stopped by, grabbed cookies, and supported Better Butter Cookie Company.

The new Hummingbird Cake Cookie is coming out in a limited batch this weekend.

Banana, pineapple, toasted coconut, walnuts, warm spice, and a light glaze — basically a Southern hummingbird cake turned into one big grandma-style cookie.

Oreo has been getting credit for somebody else’s idea for over 100 years. 👀

The chocolate sandwich cookie that came first? Hydrox—in 1908. Oreo didn’t show up until 1912.

And somehow, Oreo became the name everybody remembers.

Meanwhile, Auntie Tee is over here making the chocolate wafers from scratch for Better Butter’s Cookies & Cream. Because if I can make it myself, you already know I probably will. 😂

One thing I’m learning about building a small business is that you really don’t build it by yourself.

This week feels like a pretty good example of that.

Friday, Better Butter Cookie Company will be popping up at Broadway Boutique Mall from 11–5 in downtown Cookeville. Broadway is home to products from local vendors and makers, and I’ll be setting up there as the featured popup for the day.

Then Sunday, the Cookie Camper will be at Dogwood Park for the Bryan Symphony Orchestra, an organization that has been bringing live music to this area for decades and helping introduce local children to the arts through its education programs.

And that first photo? That was taken by Heather Good Photography.

If you own a business and you’re trying to build an actual brand—not just post random pictures of what you sell—good brand photography makes a difference. Heather helps businesses create professional photos and visual content that actually tell the story behind what they do.

That’s really what this weekend reminds me of.

A photographer helping businesses tell their story.

A downtown boutique making space for local makers.

A nonprofit bringing music and culture into the community.

And me, somewhere in the middle of it all, still showing up with butter cookies.

That’s what local business looks like to me.

Supporting each other.
Showing up.
Making something worth coming back for.

Some businesses start with a business plan.

Mine started with butter cookies.

With memories of my mama selling them door-to-door. With old-fashioned recipes. And with the belief that maybe there was still room in this world for cookies that tasted like somebody’s grandma had made them.

I didn’t know exactly what Better Butter Cookie Company would become.

I just kept baking.

One batch became another.
One customer told another.
One pop-up led to the next.

And somewhere along the way, those little butter cookies became a business that keeps stretching me, surprising me, and growing right along with me.

It hasn’t been overnight. And it sure hasn’t been perfect.

But one cookie at a time, we’re getting there.
