This was not what I wanted to come home to this evening!
I know I tell everyone that goats will find anyway they can to hurt or off themselves and dealing with parasites is horrible.
All week I have been in and out, back and forth from the Gallia County Fair, and haven't had a single issues. Honestly I looked over everybody, everybody was eating and drinking. Everything seemed fine and dandy.
I come home this afternoon and find our 6 year old senior herd sire dead. I first thought he was just laying in the sun like he normally does. After a few seconds and me screaming his name i knew something was wrong. As i ran to his side I was already crying and yelling no no no this can't be happening. We had so many plans for his upcoming kids.
Ya'll Mister Maximus was in his prime, he was in ideal weight (just gettingready to be turnednout with the girls), nothing physically was wrong with him. No diarrhea and color of his eyelids and gums was still pink. He just looked like he was napping. Not even a struggle in the dirt. No foaming of his mouth or any marks on him.
I'm at a total loss! I had just figured out all my breeding plans for this coming year. I was so excited to finally keep some of his doelings.....but now I won't have that chance!
Fly high my gorgeous big boy, i hope the pastures in heaven are as perfect as you are! We are definitely going to miss you!
We do have one daughter of his still on the farm and I'm hoping and praying Miss Addie took and is a month out from having his babies. If she is those babies will not be leaving no matter what they are. And miss Else is staying for life! I have to have at least some part of my big boy still here with me!
