Spring is here is full swing. Catkins are looking plentiful, and the clover goes for miles and miles. It’s our favorite time of year, watching life wake up from winter’s slumber.

On the weekends, we scout the orchards with our favorite four legged friends, just like PaPa used to do. Good reports all around for a healthy crop and happy animals☺️

When we lose limbs this time of year due to rain, wind or the increased weight of the growing nuts on the branches, it’s a perfect opportunity to see the higher parts of the tree that we can’t normally see up close. This limb is packed full of nice size clusters and good sized nuts. They are mostly nice and clean - free from scab and pests. However, I did find one nut with scab that tells us we’re just in time getting back out to spray fungicides for this disease. Not to worry though, the vast majority of nuts are happy and clean🤩

Our 3 year old baby Forkerts aren’t looking like such babies anymore! A few are even fruiting this summer! Early fruiting is typical of precocious trees and is a sign of a good, healthy orchard. Grow, babies, grow!

Bud break is a beautiful time of year🤩 The clover is out in full force, blanketing the orchard floors, harboring beneficial insects, and adding nitrogen to the soil.
