And just like that, sockeye season comes to a close for sleepy bay. In one of the lowest recorded salmon returns in my lifetime. We did everything we could to put as much sockeye away as possible for our friends, family and supporters. We filled some orders, and made some memories as we sweat and bled for the love of the game. We will have limited Prince William sound sockeye this year and no copper river sockeye. After a couple of weeks with the family, enjoying the Prince William sound and kenai peninsula, I will head back to the copper river for coho season. We can only hope that they will show up in decent numbers so that the fleet can recoup some of this seasons losses. We do have sockeye available but I imagine it will sell out fast.
