Honeybee Flower Farm

Honeybee Flower Farm Honeybee Flower Farm grows insecticide free flowers cut fresh from the field in Talbot County, MD.

All of the flowers are grown from seed, tubers, corms, bulbs and stem cuttings. They are long lasting and many of the varieties grown are reputed as being difficult to ship in well from overseas. In addition, supporting a local flower grower helps curb the carbon footprint and benefits the local community at large. Much of the needed supplies such as seed, compost, honeybee equipment, tools and machinery are purchased from businesses located on the Delmarva Peninsula.

So thankful for the recent rain! This season has been a rough one with crazy early spring temperature fluctuations which resulted in losing about 75% of both my peony and lily flowers. After the much needed rain, one of my zinnia meadows decided it was time to start blooming for the seasonšŸ™. There’s always something out of one’s control to contend with when Mother Nature is the ultimate bossā˜€ļøā˜”ļøā˜€ļøšŸ’Ŗ.

The first picture popped up on my FB memories, taken a year ago today right before a rainstorm. The next two were taken just now. Hopefully, next season will be better without such an extended drought. However, I still have beautiful flowers for sale and will be at the Easton Maryland Farmers Market tomorrow šŸ’™šŸŒ±.

This is my new tractor and mower shelter thanks to my friend Matt! He no longer needed it, brought it over, and built it during the major heatwave šŸ™. So grateful to finally have my investments out of the elements ā˜€ļøā˜”ļø.

Drought, heat, and strong drying winds required that this flower farmer takes a break and bakes a cake using buttermilk I accidentally bought from the grocery store thinking it was milk. It is by far my favorite cake recipe, ever! The frosting tastes like the cream inside of Twinkies. Plans are in the works to make mac and cheese tomorrow with the rest of the buttermilk and, I’ve already made buttermilk blueberry pancakes. All of which gets eaten, shared or put in the freezer.

PS: Father’s Day flowers heading your way this weekend Easton Maryland Farmers Market. There won’t be as many like previous years, but still gorgeous!šŸ’›

Dear rain, where are you? I haven’t seen much of you since last fall.

This has been the worst drought my flowers have experienced since officially opening my business in 2012. Based on the current forecast, I’ll more than likely have to replant three out of the four summer/fall blooming meadows 🌱. Thankfully, I still have enough seed saved for broadcasting after tilling under the various weeds tomorrow. Yet despite the drought, my photographers are still saying they think it’s beautiful out herešŸ™šŸŒ±

Here are a few scenes around the flower farm today. Despite the drought, it’s so pretty and difficult to truly capture with an iPhone. I also want to send out a HUGE hug to everyone who supported my last post and provided tips. It was definitely a lack of communication, and I have learned from the experience. Thank you to all of youā¤ļø!
