Hey everyone! We’ve had several questions about the pumpkin patch in the fall, and unfortunately it doesn’t come with the greatest news - for now.

As most of you know that last few years we’ve struggled with all sorts of weather and too many bugs. Which those all factored into a not so great patch. But if we’re being completely transparent, time has been an issue too.

When Todd and I started this back in 2021, we both had 9-5 jobs, evenings, weekends, and holidays off. Well…. shortly after that we both quit our jobs and became self employed. Todd’s an owner/operator and I own Frosting, Inc.- Walnut, IA and have had a store front for 2 years. Then, last August we purchased and opened a coffee shop, Brewed Awakening - Avoca, IA. Now those evenings, weekends, and holidays off are non-existent 😂

We’re going to have to step away from pumpkins for awhile. It’s definitely not something either of us want to quit doing altogether… I still have big plans for this 😉 (But we won’t mention it to Todd, he can get a little nervous 🤫)

Thank you for always being there to support and encourage us and we’ll see you again soon!

We have some sad news 😥 There was a freak hail storm that came through the other day and ruined all our pumpkins. We will not be able to attend Prescott’s Harvest Fest and won’t have any pumpkins to sell this year. Such a disappointment. Pics of the ruined pumpkins below 😔

We were able to have a little time to get into the patch today! 🎃 We don’t have as many as we were hoping for, but we’re loving the ones we picked! 🧡🤍

We’re going to be set up at Harvest Fest in Prescott on Saturday, October 5th. Stop out to get your pumpkins. 🍁🎃🤎 Event details here ➡️ https://facebook.com/events/s/harvest-fest-2024/332231086540165/

✨Due to limited quantity, this will be the only time we’ll be selling pumpkins. Unfortunately there will be no early sales either, we want to make sure to have a good selection for the event✨

Gaaaahhhh!! 😣 It always seems like we have to bring you not-so-great news.

As everyone knows growing ANYTHING is complete trial and error. I’ve tried to grow - and have killed - herbs at least 5 times over the years. So it’s a good thing *I’m* not the one planting the pumpkins 😝 That’s why Todd handles that part of things, phew! But it’s a new experience for him too.

We are calling the first year Beginner’s Luck 🍀 It was a HUGE success. We had more pumpkins than we knew what to do with, so many excited people, and perfect weather! I’m going with the fact it was my ‘winging it’ attitude since Todd’s a huge planner 🤣

Last year was a total bust. The heat ☀️, dry conditions, and bugs 🐛 were all out of our control.

That brings us to this year…. we’re not sure what happened 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 The vines looked nice and green 🌱. The rain 🌧️ was plentiful, but the pumpkins apparently didn’t pollinate well after blooming. This is where that trial and error comes in. We have been looking over our calendars, contacting food trucks, planning games and activities for our Day at the Patch 🎃🎃 But with much regret, we’re not going to be able to have it again this year. 😢

We want to express our appreciation for everyone that has reached out to us regarding field trips, asking us to be at events with our pumpkins, and making sure we let you know when they’re ready so you can buy some! Thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

Farming is trial and error, running a business is trial and error. That’s just life. We’re still not giving up 💪🏼 We’re going to sell what we have this year (unfortunately it won’t be much), and try again next year. 😊 And because fall is my absolute favorite time of year 🍁🍂🥰 I keep telling Todd that we’re going to make this work one way or another! 😜
