I had the best helpers in the garden today!! Tom was there, too; I’m not sure how he isn’t in any pictures. Sam munched sweet corn fresh off the cob while Emily and I pruned tomatoes. We all picked about 5 pounds of Sun Golds - we’d already picked about the same quantity the day before yesterday.
Sam is a few weeks from turning 9 & Em turned 7 on Cinco de Mayo. How is time going so fast?!
Em also helped cut ragged Jack kale, orange chard, and picked San Marzano’s. Sam & Tom supervised as I harvested our one and only black beauty zucchini and a handful of Serranos.
I posted in my stories that I made roasted tomatoes with fresh herbs and garlic and lots of olive oil, served with garlic rubbed crostini on homemade ricotta 😋😋😋 the kids loved the bread and Lane and I devoured the rest. Highly recommended if you’ve got a bumper crop of cherry tomatoes.
Today was one of those magical days I will hopefully remember forever. The boys and I made jumbo banana muffins with cinnamon streusel topping and blueberry banana muffins while Emily slept in. Sam was very focused on learning how to bake from scratch. He asked if I thought he would be successful on a kids baking show. Tom observed and did amazing at licking the batter bowls clean 🤩
We worked on a puzzle together, they swam, Em hosted a craft party in her room, and turned the white streak of hair I have purple with hair chalk, Tom fell asleep in my arms, and Em played with the 20 baby turkeys, the American Bresse, Polish, and Barred Rock babies we recently moved outside. Sam was by my side being the cuddliest little angel most of the day 🤍
Lane fished for a lot of the day, and then came home with my fave ice cream and made us dinner. Today really was a great day 🥰🌾
