Surrounding myself with plants and also jello! Haha! A retro dessert! Made in my new jello mold! Black cherries, walnuts, and mini marshmallows in orange jello with whipped cream. Life’s little pleasures are the best and damned important in these tough times. It’s the little things. Have a great Wednesday

My paternal artist and interior design architect grandfather is buried in Hampton, Virginia. I’ve never been to his gravesite down there and at this point, I don’t think I’ll ever see it in person. He passed away when I was three. I don’t really remember him but I’ve seen the many slides of gardens and flowers that he took and some of the slides had a green gazing globe sitting there in his Newport News, VA garden. When my paternal grandmother’s Virginia house was being emptied to be sold back in approx 1991 or so, I found a green gazing globe, his, in the house in a box. I brought it home. I stashed it away. I put it in my Massachusetts garden briefly, before it broke! It was glass. Well, I just bought a stainless steel one that won’t break and just silicone caulked it to my old heavy cement pedestal that’s been kicking around the Song Garden for years. Now I’ve placed it in my private garden in his remembrance. Most things I do have some sort of secret special meaning. This little project and its special meaning brings me great comfort. Plus, my grandsons will enjoy making silly faces in it and will make grandparent garden memories of their own.

Grab your huge Random House Dictionary, or any book really, that you weight down with something heavy, and start pressing! You do not need a fancy press to do this! Your ancestors pressed flowers, leaves, and four leaf clovers in books and you can too! Wow! These look as great as the ones I pressed in my fancy press!

Spent some time this evening taking finished pressed flowers out of the press and adding a new batch to the press. One day, perhaps in the fall, I’ll make some art with them. I don’t know what the goal is here exactly…all I know is that I’m very drawn and excited to press flowers all season long! The Pansies came out great!

Went up the hill to pick some of my flowers to press and then drove home from a rainy Cornish, NH to a dry Windsor, VT.

I’m on a Back Street Boys binge this week, thanks to a story posted a few days ago by Janie hahaha! So it was funny listening to this on my country road, or back street, back woods drive this morning early and coming upon these back street geese.

Tornado yesterday in Woodstock, Vermont, and I drove over here to Cornish New Hampshire to our garden and found that one of our crabapple trees, heavily laden with fruit, had toppled over in yesterday’s strong winds. Luckily, it was not cracked. It just flopped over with the root ball in the soggy ground from torrential rain. Dan came to the rescue. We righted the tree and he tied it to a new stake that he drove in with a heavy maul. Very, very windy yesterday but luckily no tornadoes where we live.
