Yesterday was the last day of our winter knitting workshops. As always, we were so lucky with both our beginners workshop and our Sophie scarf workshop to have such wonderful participants! It’s so rewarding to not only teach people a new skill but also to facilitate community connections. People living in the same towns (or even on the same road!) meeting for the first time through our workshops is so gratifying. We also get to show off our passion for small scale fiber farming. Plus Honey gets to make a few new friends…🐮

If you missed our winter workshops have no fear! We’re planning a few for spring/summer already. If there’s a knitting skill you’d like to learn send us a dm or leave a comment and let us know!

Knitting not your thing? Stay tuned for a special home cheesemaking workshop coming this summer!

✨UPCOMING WORKSHOPS!✨
This winter we’ve planned two knitting workshop offerings. We’re starting with our usual beginners workshop where you get to learn the basics of knitting (cast on, knit, cast off) using yarn from our sweet critters. Then our second workshop will be all about the “Sophie Scarf”! If you’ve been on the knitting side of the internet for any time at all you’ll have seen this quick and beautiful pattern by and we’re so excited to teach you how to make it using our locally grown and processed yarn.

Day 2: Gussie! The white whale, the walrus, the chunkiest boy around. Sweet, snuggly, seldom sassy, a beautiful crimpy fleece to boot! To me he is perfection in sheep form. Nothing is better than going out in the morning and having him rest his head on my shoulder for a cuddle. Gussie’s our biggest sheep yet never throws his weight around with the others, he’s the gentle giant of the Shetland sheep world.

Happy December and welcome to the Clover Hill adventure calendar!🎄
Recently I’ve felt so busy that posting has gone by the wayside but it’s my goal to share one of our critters or products every day in December, so I hope you’ll be along for the ride!
For our first day I figured it was best to share one of our first animals, Thea the alpaca. She’s sweet, she’s sassy, and sometimes she’s a little spitty. Recently she’s accepted that the sheep are staying (it’s only been 5 years…) and that she could *maybe* make friends with them. Along with her spicy attitude, another thing we love about Thea is that beautiful fawn fiber that makes the softest yarn!

Honey has some exciting news to share….she’s pregnant! 🐮🍼 Back in August our girl got bred to a Normande bull, this morning she got scanned and it’s official! If all goes to plan we should have a little heifer hopping around by end of May 2026.

Thank you to .rock.vet for getting video of some little calf legs and toes!!

P.S. babies mean milk, milk means cheese, did somebody say “home cheesemaking workshop”? 😉

On a rainy day like this all we want to do is curl up and knit! Just a little reminder that we’re hosting a beginners knitting workshop on October 11th and 18th from 10am-12pm on our farm in Cornwall. You’ll get to use this beautiful Shetland yarn to create a set of knitted potholders, perfect for all your cozy fall cooking. Plus you’ll get to meet our animals and learn about how we turn their fiber into beautiful yarn. Send us an email at [email protected] to register or learn more!

It’s shearing season! A few weeks ago I was able to attend the Connecticut sheep breeders association shearing school and it was such a rewarding experience. I’ve always been intimidated by shearing. The equipment, the animal handling, the actual shearing itself, it’s a lot to take in. Not to mention being sort of terrified of making a big old gouge in one of my precious sheep. And while after one day of shearing (and only one sheep sheared in an hour and a half’s time 😅) I’m not going pro anytime soon, I feel so much more empowered to try it out on my own animals this season.

A huge thank you to for being such wonderful teachers!

✨HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!✨
My sweet little gal turns one year old today! We’re pampering her with lots of grooming and treats to celebrate. She is such a special girl to me, I’ve known her since the moment she was born and bottle fed her as a little calf. She has grown from a shy calf into a spunky and veryy friendly heifer. I’ve dreamed of having a cow my whole life, and I’m so grateful for that dream to have come true with such a special girl 💖🍯
