Hey folks, I’ve been debating whether to make this post for a while, but I feel honesty is the best policy, so here we go. As a food trucker, I’ve been to my fair share of events where I invested a hefty premium to participate that yielded a result of loss, or that of just breaking even. That is why I stand firm with our honesty percentage based policy. I know this has caused some vendors to abstain from our event, but I feel it’s the most fair model to follow because it allows anyone and everyone a chance to showcase his/her craft without competition. Half of the percentage that goes to the festival is used for maintenance (port-a-potty’s, water, trash, advertising, etc), while the other half is donated to the church as a tithe in exchange for the their generous lending of location. These services by which I’ve been assuming financial responsibility for, trying to ensure there’s something else fun, free, and exciting to look forward to in Corpus, can become costly which is the purpose of the $25 fee; not only to secure your specific non-competing vendor spot, but to secure the amenities needed as well. With that being said, I’m afraid we’re at a point where I need to reassess how feasible it is to continue. Unfortunately, I will need to cancel this month’s festival due to Memorial Day events and lack of available vendors. Being contingent on how many vendors sign up for future months, we may not be able to keep the Shoreline Food Truck Festival going. We hope to be able to continue this endeavor and bring a free to the public, family friendly, consistent, monthly, and fun event to Corpus Christi that includes a variety of different foods and vendors, as well as an opportunity for fellow food truckies to do what they do best; share their passion for quality food with the citizens of this beautiful seaside city.
I’m truly grateful for your support and very sorry to spring the news last minute.
