That’s a wrap! My big charolias had twin bull calves this year as her last hurrah! I wondered if she was gonna have twins since she was soooo large. Sadly this will be her last calving season for us since she started showing her age halfway through her pregnancy. But thankfully I have two of her daughters as her replacements so we can carry on her legacy!

But it was also one of her granddaughters that calved this morning and wrapped everything up nicely with another bull calf! Praising the Lord for a smooth and successful calving season 🙌

Our first calf of the year! Healthy little heifer calf that’s already up and nursing.

One minute momma is down at the protein tub next minute she walks up the hill to an old hay pile and pops out a calf 😂
This is our momma April and she is my absolute favorite cow. She truly is the best ❤️

Sometimes we get attached and it makes it hard to send them to the processor and some times they keep finding weak spots...

Sometimes we get attached and it makes it hard to send them to the processor and some times they keep finding weak spots in my fence and it reminds me why we send certain ones sooner. 🙃

I took Roxie out to check cows on Thursday. One of the heifers due date was that day and when I checked her earlier that day it looked as though she had calved but the baby was no where to be found.

Sometimes a momma will hid them after they are born and they act like they don’t have a calf. It can be very confusing when you’re looking for said calf haha. Her momma did the exact same thing with her!

So I took Roxie out to wander the pastures and look for the maybe hidden calf. The grass was so tall it was hard to see much. I checked where they lay during the day and a few other spots and gave up. It would take all day to properly check that entire pasture, or a drone!

An hour later as we were headed to town to pick up the kids from VBS Branden spots the momma off by her self and wouldn’t ya know it… the little calf was hoping along with her. We could only see it because it was hoping through the tall grass.

As of now, the gender is still a mystery because I still can’t find it! At least I know it’s up and drank and that half the battle with calves.

Hide and seek champ of 2025 for sure 😂 pictures coming eventually!
