I served in the Navy at DIA. When we weren't on deployment, supporting the NMCC at the Pentagon was part of our duties. I was medically discharged four years before September 11th. But my shipmates, my friends, were still there that morning. Some of them were among the injured. Some of them didn't come home.

I think about them every day. This year, with 25 years between us and that morning, it feels different. Heavier, somehow. Time doesn't shrink the loss. It just changes how you carry it.

To the sailors, airmen, soldiers, Marines, and civilians who answered the call that day and every day since, you are not forgotten. Your sacrifice, and the sacrifice of those who loved you and waited for you, is carried by all of us who are still here.

We'll never forget.

Huge congratulations to our silent auction winners, pictured here with us at the Mabank Farmers Market. Their winning bid of $1,500, combined with $400 contributed by Blooming with Sherryne from 20% percent of her sales over the last two weeks, brought our total contribution to Scott and Shelby of The Boonies Farm to $1,900.
