11 months of milking this sweet gal and it’s officially time to dry her up to prepare for the Tennessee move and her next calf in September. Thank you, Bertha, for proving nourishment for our family and many others.

I really didn’t want to milk tonight. My neck and shoulder ache, it’s cold, and I didnt want to go but that’s the thing about farming, it doesn’t matter what you want. My animals depend on me and community members depend on my animals so, I must, even if I don’t want to. It’s funny what happens some times when you do the hard thing, the right thing….Life gives to you.

As soon as I stepped out, I saw a fox in the neighbors pasture coming our way. Bhishma saw it too and immediately went on alert. Shortly after this, coyotes starting calling and Bhishma gave a warning bark that sounded like “This is my house!” and the coyotes called no more. Once again, protecting his farm. When I got to the milk parlor, I saw 6 deer grazing in the pasture unbothered by my presence. Bertha stood beautifully to be milked and even let me rest my head on her while milking.

Tonight, I’m thankful to be a farmer. I’m thankful for my animals that require my stewardship. From the chickens that lay the eggs, to the cows that fill milk buckets, and the best dog to protect it all. Even for the fox and coyotes. It is worth the aches, the pains, the “I don’t want to” feeling but doing it anyways. Because if you do it and you allow yourself to receive, you will be so blessed.

After a 5 month hiatus, I am finally back with Bertha. 10/10 don’t recommended a serious back injury 2 months after getting a cow (or anytime) 10/10 do recommend a partner that will hold it down while you’re out of commission. Thank you, Patrick for milking every morning before working 10 hour days. I took your advice and played Krishna Das for her this morning. It worked 😉

We are officially TWO years old! We started own business when I was 6 months pregnant with Hunter. It was a nerve racking choice (to put it lightly) but we decided to have faith and dive in. What started as irrigation jobs, pasture management, and landscaping quickly turned into greenhouses, riverside cabins, hay barns, barndominiums and more.

We have been incredibly blessed with community support, word of mouth referrals, and loyal clients. Because of you all, we have more time together as a family, our kids get to see their Daddy work hard, and we have all learned extra gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting us on this journey. We look forward more projects!

We have some openings for the end of 2025 and can start looking at 2026 projects so give us a shout!
