Good morning,

We regret to inform you that as of January 1st, 2023 The Squeeze Juice Bar will be closed until further notice.

We would like to thank each and everyone of you for supporting us from the moment we open our doors. Whether you’re a regular customer of our fresh juices and smoothies, or a New Yorker seeking that NYC style foods, just someone who enjoyed coming by the restaurant listening to music, dancing, singing and shooting the breeze, we say thank you.

We’ve often jokingly marketed ourselves by saying the, “The food is free, you pay for the vibe!” Truth is, y’all have been a whole vibe, but it’s time for us to take some time to figure out our new wave.

We’re not making any promises of the future. So we’re taking our time now to stop and thank the community of Cortland for embracing us. We want to thank the surrounding communities for supporting us.

On a more serious note, here’s the “why?”

As many of you know, Darris McDowell aka WavyTrue was recently sent away. The restaurant was assumed by a new owner and management team. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. True had a vision for the Squeeze that relied heavily on his presence. With him not here right now, that vision can’t be met by just anyone. Nothing is the same. And while nothing stays the same, the changes that were made within and around our store have gotten us to a place where we’re closing our doors indefinitely.

What the future holds for us? We don’t know. But we do know a couple things:

1. We want to send a huge thank you to Evan Souzas and Bill Cleary for giving us the opportunity to experience business life in the historical downtown of Cortland.
2. We want to say a final thank you to YOU, the community. If there’s a world that allows us to rise again, we know we can count on you.

First and foremost, we would like to send our well wishes to the victim of yesterday’s tragic events. We wish them a speedy recovery full of peace and love.

While we share similar sentiments as other businesses in the Historical Downtown area, we too want to express that this is a safe place. Cortland is our home and you are our community.

As much as we’d like to encourage your patronage to ALL of the great businesses that make up our Downtown, even more we are urging you to show your love and support of the victim and their family at this time.
