Well, just had a man out to look at restoring our big, beautiful barn. It’s going to be super expensive, regardless of which way we go with this, unless we choose to just allow the barn to disintegrate into nothing, which also would render it a super dangerous hazard on our farm until it’s nothing but rubble.

The price to tear down and rebuild a metal barn or to restore this barn is so comparable, it might as well be considered equal.

So, asking again if you all would consider donating and becoming a part of this historical structure with us. At least please share with all of your business partners.

I will be making a plaque with everyone’s names on it and mounting it on the wall of the newly restored barn.

Allow me to introduce myself to those of you who don’t know what we do. We… Providence Acres needs your support for Save Providence Acres' Beloved Old Barn

Cows moved pasture areas to our front yard, this evening. Partially to mow the lawn for us, and partially, to get them all away from the barn. Now, we can work around the barn and move fences and make an area that will be long term safe for them.

REMINDER- we are a GRAZING DAIRY!

These are grass fed cows. The seasons are changing and grass is in transition. The milk will change from week to week and day to day as grazing habits and forage change with the weather.

We do not believe in monoculture pastures. Our cows are free to chose the plant matter that appeals to them in their pastures. The milk flavor, smell, consistency... is affected by what the cattle eat.

Milk is consistent 365 days a year in a CAFO (confined livestock feeding operation) which we are not. We feel our milk cows are happiest roaming free in pastures.

Better idea of what’s going on with the barn! Thank you, Olivia, for editing this for me!

Herd shares available in Corunna/Lennon area.
Jersey cows producing amazing, creamy milk! Our cows are primarily grass fed and are given grain during milking in order to maintain body condition. The girls are tested annually for Johnes, BLV, and Brucellosis and have been negative every year, until our vet determined that we can now consider ourselves a closed herd. The girls are routinely tested for SCC via CMT. We treat homeopathically as much as we are able to, but we will treat using an antibiotic if necessary, and milk is pulled during that time until everything is cleared.
Our set up:
You provide your own jars, and we fill your jars. Milk goes to the fridge the day before your scheduled pick up day.
Herd share clients are given first pick for other farm products: garden produce, beef shares, pork shares, meat chickens, etc.
One time buy-in fee.
Weekly scheduled herd share fees and pick ups.
We use a milking machine, so the milk is kept extremely clean. Milk is then triple filtered, jarred, and rushed to the fridge for cooling. We do use a pre and post iodine dip to ensure cleanliness.

I’m looking into making a plaque with the names of all of you that have donated to help us keep this barn up and mounting the plaque on the door of the barn! I’d really love to add the names of anyone who live here before we moved in!
