Friday from 1-3pm the Benton County Museum in Corvallis is highlighting drop spindles and I'm demo-ing. Come by and chat, or bring your own drop-spindle to join me!

"Come learn about the history of textile spinning and witness a live demonstration with our friends from Bellwether Wool Company! One of the simplest tools for spinning is a called a drop spindle. People have been spinning fiber for thousands of years using this ancient tool. On display this month in the Louis C Raymond exhibit in Corvallis Museum is an example of a drop spindle from Colombia, estimated to be over 400 years old!
Studying textiles can be a fascinating window into the past! You can even pick up a drop spindle in our gift shop to keep the fun going at home!"

Fresh on the shelves. We have doubled the inventory. For you spinners, weavers, felters and other fiber artists.

Locally made and dyed roving by Bellwether Wool Company out of Philomath, Oregon.

We now have approximately 250 color combinations of the roving. Plus some of their finished yarns and some locks.

Such a morning on the farm!! Plumbing backed up, and a Great Horned Owl was in the chicken coop! The owl killed one hen that he then couldn't figure out how to leave with. When we went out to feed horses and sheep this morning, he was frantically trying to get out. We accommodated him by opening the door and encouraging him out. Don fixed the hole in the chicken coop fence, then got the sewage drain problem fixed, so - except for our lovely young hen - all is now back on track. I think. Until tomorrow.
