Working with a diaspora of folks from Santiago Nuyoo, Oaxaca, we are a multi-lingual community farm based in Corvallis, Oregon.

We just finished packing up our first Food for Health boxes of the season! Together with the Linn County Health Department, this program will now run weekly thru the end of November, and in addition to food boxes, this year we’ll also be helping to pilot free monthly farmers markets in Sweet Home.

This week’s boxes go to three of our partnering organizations and .street.youth.services. Big thanks to our fellow local farmers who grew this week’s produce! .llc .oso 🥕 🍓 🥒

We propagated some more chunas today, trying out some tip cuttings. Chunas is a type of dahlia with edible greens grown in the Cloud Forest Guatemalan Highlands in the Todo Santo Huehuetenango region.

Dahlia imperialis is known as chunas in Mam or Tree Dahlia in English because it can get 20’ tall. See pic at end of a big double-flowered form of it in Santiago Nuyoo, Oaxaca. We’ve been propagating it for a couple years now and will definitely have a good crop of it this season 🌱

Quick lil rainy day prop house tour 🌱🌧️🌱 This is our first year with a real prop house and our plants are so much happier in here. The hot table is full of all our quelites right now, many that require heat treatment to germ like the Violeta and Chipil, others like pápalo that are surface-sewn and need extra light. Corn and peppers are well on their way, we haven’t killed our onions yet despite their will to die, and I still feel like I don’t know what I’m doing but I guess we’re doing pretty good 🌱

We had a beautiful day at the .winter.market this weekend! Early spring veggies are on the come up, if you missed us at market you can visit the farmstand every day of the week for more of the same!

The farmstand is open Self Serve Daily, and our winter staffed hours are Mondays & Fridays 12-5 and Sat & Sun 10-2. During staffed hours we can accept cards, EBT, make change, and fill jars with bulk honey 🍯🥬🥕🥦
