Steve is the Master Distiller Emeritus at both Bardstown Bourbon and Green River-- come on down and say hello and get a bottle or two signed. 💪🥃😻🐴

Steve Nally serves as Master Distiller Emeritus at Bardstown Bourbon Company, where he continues to lend his expertise and craftsmanship after more than five decades in the industry. A Bourbon Hall of Famer and native of Loretto, Kentucky, Steve spent over 30 years at Maker’s Mark, where he rose to the rank of Master Distiller before launching the award-winning Wyoming Whiskey. In 2014, he became the first employee at Bardstown Bourbon Company and played a key role in building the distillery and its custom distillation business from the ground up. Steve remains a trusted steward of quality and innovation at Bardstown Bourbon, continuing to influence the brand’s product development and public presence.

Popped down to for a night of grub and grog hosted by himself! Great time all around, I go through a lot of Hamilton rum myself (shout out ) and they killed it with these drinks! I also brought along my Zardoz head for a Lapu Lapu! It's not always the easiest to find drinks to fill that thing with but the Lapu Lapu is on the larger side so it was a pretty good fit.

It Was “Hi-Time” For A Rioja Tasting!

It had been a while since the last Rioja tasting at Hi-Time Wine Cellars , my favorite store and wine bar in Costa Mesa, so I when I saw this “Renowned Rioja” tasting on the calendar I hotfooted it to ! 🏃🏽‍♂️

The lineup included the following wines ranging in price from $30 to $95:

1. 2011 Lopez de Heredia “Vina Tondonia” Reserva (Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano & Mazuelo)
2. 2023 Diego Magana “Anza” (Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo, Viura & Malvasia Riojana)
3. 2023 Bodegas y Vinedos Artadi Vinas de Fain (Tempranillo & Viura)
4. 2018 Contino Reserva (Tempranillo, Graciano, Carignan & Garnacha)
5. 2004 Bodegas Urbina Gran Reserva (Tempranillo)
6. 2018 Bodegas Pujanza “Hado” (Tempranillo)
7. 2019 Bodega Roda I Reserva (Tempranillo & Graciano)
8. 2019 Bodegas Muga “Prado Enea” Gran Reserva (Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo & Graciano)

All the wines were excellent, but for me the 2019 Bodegas Muga “Prado Enea” Gran Reserva was the “Wine Of The Night” with the 2011 Lopez de Heredia “Vina Tondonia” Reserva coming in a close second. 👍🏼

During the tasting an adorable chocolate Labrador puppy called Margot made an appearance making everyone’s hearts melt! 🐾 🥰

A big THANK YOU to Gabe and Parker for doing an excellent job as usual and for kindly humoring my request to pose with my two favorite wines of the night. 🙏🏼 I had to join them in the shenanigans by doing a silly Weekend Wine Workout video too! 😜 Salud! 🍷
