For those of you who remember the story of PAWD Denali getting severely ill with jaundice and liver issues last year, we are writing to tell you good news. We are 14 months out from Denali’s first crisis and 10 months from the second crisis and she was finally well enough to be spayed this weekend. Despite no visible heat since Dec 2023, the vet said her reproductive organs were normal. And her liver bloodwork is the best its been since this all started. At her worst, her ALT was over 1000 and her ALP was also very high with bilirubin at 32. Today her bilirubin is normal at 0.4 and ALT and ALP are both only a tad high. We are very certain now that she has autoimmune hepatitis and hypothyroid and she is managed well with low dose steroids, cyclosporin, denamarin, milk thistle and thyroid support. Thanks to all who reached out, cared, followed her and sent prayers and good wishes.

UPDATE: these amazing boys have been reserved and will be going home to a family with human kids, goats, poultry and horses!! The kids make the boys the happiest! 🥰

SRC Altaïr of PAWD (G2), age 6, and PAWD Cloud (G3), age 2, are in need of a new flock to guard. They are a working and bonded pair, so I would like to keep them together. This grandsire and grandson are the most loving poultry guardians! They have protected against bear, mountain lion, fox, coyote, skunk, and raccoon. Altaïr also loves cattle and goats. Cloud will likely do well with them also, but has not had much experience with them. Cloud has had clean DNA testing and Altaïr carries a single recessive for CMR1. It is possible that one or both boys carry a recessive CT gene but it is unconfirmed in testing as I tested prior to this gene being found in CMDs. Both boys are intact and proven CMDR studs producing amazing pups - especially Altair who sired service dogs in a couple of his litters. If it weren’t for a severe health crisis I am dealing with, these boys would spend the rest of their lives right here at Pawsable Dreams Vista. Sadly, we are instead looking for a loving ranch to put them to work. Please PM for details. This is NOT a give-away. These are well bred, loving, well-trained lgds and there is a fee. A few chickens may be negotiated to come with them.

Belated happy 2nd birthday (on March 1) to the TRULY AMAZING Breaking Bad litter from UUU Paisley of PAWD & SRC Altaïr of PAWD: Walter (now Sir Walter), Jesse, Nacho and Lalo (now Suliemon or Suli). UUU Paisley of PAWD is a working service dog and her litter of 4 was outstanding! 3/4 became service dogs and little Jesse went on to be a great guardian.

This is something even my closest friends struggle with. Heck - even Dear Hubby can’t do the processing (and he is definitely NOT friends with our food animals). I, however, work to develop a relationship with every animal who lives here - especially if it will be food. When I first got them, named them, and processed them it was absolutely darn hard. But the connection I then had to my food was even more precious. Not just healthy food raised organically and humanely - but actually loved and happy, petted and held, and cried for and thanked for its sacrifice for the lives of me and my family. No one can call me disconnected from my food source - and I’m grateful.

“You can’t love an animal you eat!”

Just because a critter is destined to fill a freezer (providing countless meals and co-products) doesn’t mean that animal shouldn’t be loved.
It doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get the best care possible, the best feed possible, the best shelter possible…the best life possible.

You can name them.
You can pet them.
You can talk to them.
You can respect them.
You can love them.
You can eat them.

An outsider might just see them as animals, but the ones caring for them know they are friends until they are food.

We would like to congratulate our amazing friends at Frogtown Cedars Farm - Mini and Standard Nubians in Ottsville, PA, on their first litter of CMDR Colorado Mountain Dogs by our own PAWD Alexandra of FCF and a brilliant stud T23 Jackson of FCF who we got to know when we transported him to them. These pups should be EPIC working dogs!! We are so proud to be part of FCF’s line!

THIS DOG IS A BONAFIDE HERO!

This one-&-a-half year old boy -PAWD Galen - is my hero of the day. He was one of 2 male keepers from my last litter and as I only needed one, my dear friends (Brandice D. McMillen, Fine Arts) took him for me so I could see him regularly. Today, he saved one of their lives, and the studio she works in! Details to come later in a shared post. But I’m celebrating life, breeding program, the amazing dogs who work hard, and especially PAWD GALEN - HERO!!

This is PAWD Teonna. She is my 3 rd generation female (seen in one photo below with her dam, PAWD Denali, and granddam UUU Paisley). Teonna is the epitome of my breeding program. She is just like her granddam in that she both guards and works as service dog in training. But she is friendlier than her granddam. She is like her dam in her ability to sense sadness or illness in others. And she is always goofy which is great for a laugh. Just wanted to share this beauty and how grateful I am for her (and the generations before her).❤️💖🐾🐾🐾
