Our annual strawberry jam making event took place today. Meme and I got right back into grove in making it and we made 33 pint jars along with 10 half-pint jars. I look forward to enjoying some freshly made jam with some homemade biscuits real soon

Homemade Monday was alittle different today. We restocked and mixed our livestock feed. We like to “make” our animals’ feed so we know whats in it and premixing the feed helps with waste when the kids fed the animals.

For the goats and Joker we mix alfalfa pellets, black oil sunflower seeds, and alittle bit of sweet feed together. They love this mix during the cold months.

For our Chickens we mix cracked corn, cracked wheat, whole oats, black oil sunflower seeds, protein crumble, oregano, dried rosemary, and red pepper flakes. This mix has a great balance of protein, minerals, and vitamins to help keep them healthy.

When you’re in the shop getting everybody’s feed together and you hear a noise. Miss Poppy was a little impatient 😂🐐!

For Homemade Monday I made brownies from scratch 😉 for my hubby who is on his way home from storm relief.

I received this recipe from my mother-in-law where you can batch make dry brownie mix and store it in a big container in your pantry. It cuts down prep time real quick and they are delicious.

I used my mix which is listed below in pictures (I use unbleached flour and unbleached sugar less additives). Homemade vanilla with eggs from our flock. I ran out of homemade butter so store bought it is today which is perfectly fine.

I like to be extra and put icing on my brownies. This is the same icing that I use when we make sugar cookies. I just added cocoa powder to make it chocolate. It is a cup of confection sugar, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, and 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk, (depending on the consistency you’re looking for).

For Homemade Monday (but on Tuesday because the kids were out of school yesterday 😉) I made wheat bread. I love making bread and all the different steps you take preparing it. But I’ll be honest the bread maker is my best friend now that we have a little one. I used local honey and wheat flour that I ground with my MIL. This was the first time I used a plant based butter (due to little man’s dairy issues) and I would have to say I see/taste no difference from the original recipe. Can’t wait for the family to get home and try some.
