Sometimes third time’s a charm!❤️🐮
This little heifer needed some extra help getting up and nursing after she was born. Sometimes when a calf has a fast delivery and doesn’t experience the normal pressure through the birth canal, they can show signs of what’s often called “dummy calf syndrome.” They may seem sleepy or unaware and have little to no suckle reflex.
We used the Madigan Squeeze, which applies gentle, sustained pressure around the calf’s body to mimic the pressure experienced during birth. It took three different attempts with this little girl before we finally saw the change we were hoping for.
After the third squeeze, she became more alert, her suckle reflex kicked in, and we finally got her up and nursing on her own. 🙌

Curiosity got the best of this little guy. 🌳🐮
He was convinced the grass on the other side had to be better… until he realized he couldn’t get back out.
Good thing the girls found him before his big adventure turned into a bigger problem.😬😳

Today was slaughter day for our butcher steers, and Bella the Basset Hound took full advantage of the situation with a fresh drink of blood. 🐶🩸
We suspect she’s been watching Twilight. 🌙😂
