PT Poultry

PT Poultry We have seven varieties of Belgian Bearded d'Anvers and four varieties of Turkeys. We sell fertile hatching eggs when they are available.

This all started as a 4-H project. We started with one Quail variety Belgian Bearded d'Anvers cockerel. Over the years, this has evolved into more-than-part-time job with more than 100 birds, a small barn & several free-standing pens. This is still a 4-H project. We're just going into "business" to help offset the cost of participating in 10 shows a year. Not to mention the cost of feed. We curren

tly have seven varieties of Belgian Bearded d'Anvers and four varieties of Turkeys. We sell our extra birds & fertile hatching eggs when they are available. Unfortunately, the birds are in charge of production. So, not everything is available all of the time. We bought layer chicks this past November & will be offering fresh eggs for you to eat starting around March '14. We also raise meat birds for the Junior Livestock Auction at our local fairs & sometime we have extra meat birds left over from those projects. But, we usually don't raise meat birds. It might be something we look into in the future.

One of the things I like about fall is that the plumage on these guys really comes back great. During July & August it's really rare around here to have days under 90 degree and it pretty common to have 100+ days as well. They look like crap in the summer.

Redoing the predator proofing on the pen. A 6in. x 6in. mote filled with rock; 1/2in. plywood topped off by 4ft high field wire (8 or 10g). The irony is the my most persistent "predators" are my own goats who are after the feed.
