Whidbey Island offers a great climate for growing lavender, a flowering plant in the mint family. Learn more about the origins of this fragrant herb, how to distill its essential oil and hydrosol, and the various uses of the dried lavender bud with Tyler and Jenny Saltonstall, the owners of Western Sun Lavender Farm in Coupeville, where they grow 14 different lavender varieties.
This program will be at the Oak Harbor Library and will include a demonstration of the distillation process, different varieties of dried bundles and smelling samples. The program is at 4pm on Thursday, June 20. For more information, please visit https://buff.ly/3UEJXsJ

We had a fantastic time with Western Sun Lavender Farm on the 20th! They brought lots of beautiful lavender bundles to look at (and smell!) and also brought an oil distiller. How cool!
