Found this carrot in the back box today while we were working. I planted these Kyoto red carrots last spring and thought none of them took. We will have to reconsider how we are planting carrots.

This is our next project. This is my parents old chicken coop. They moved their birds closer and have given me permission to use this for ducks. The structure is great, I just need to even the ground back out and swap it from chicken to duck ready. I will build a little pond that drains so I can clean it weekly and plant around it. It may take a minute but we will get there. I am very excited about this next adventure.

I started fermenting my chicken feed a few months ago. To make it easier during the week I restock everything each weekend. I refill the water tub with enough water to get through the week. I keep enough water jugs in the coop to get through a week as well. These little steps make it easier on work nights to get the farm chores done.

My kids have been telling me for a while now to create a page for our little family farm. This page will show how we are building our farm a little each year. I will try to show videos of our gardens and how we grow, our chickens and how we raise them. During harvest, I will try to show how we preserve what we grow. We try to grow enough to get us through a year. We all have regular jobs and farm in the evenings and weekends. We build as much from repurposed materials as much as possible. It's not picture perfect or pinterest ready but it is our home. Thanks to the support of our friends and family we are able to continue this adventure.
