🌟 Building a Brighter and Better Covington 🌟

Big improvements are on the horizon for our historic downtown square!

The City of Covington is launching the Downtown Square Utility Relocation & Replacement Project, a major infrastructure investment designed to modernize aging utilities and prepare our community for future growth. The project will replace and upgrade sewer, water, gas, power, and telecommunications infrastructure throughout the downtown area and surrounding 9-block perimeter.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-to-late June 2026 and continue in phases over the next 20–28 months. While there will be some temporary inconveniences—including traffic shifts, sidewalk detours, and construction activity—the long-term benefits will strengthen the heart of our community for decades to come.

Covington Square has always been more than a destination—it’s where our community gathers, celebrates, shops, dines, and creates memories. This project represents a commitment to preserving that charm while investing in the infrastructure needed to support future generations.

Please continue to support our downtown businesses during construction. Every visit, meal, purchase, and kind word helps keep our Square thriving while this important work is underway.

Progress isn’t always pretty, but the result will be a stronger, safer, and more vibrant downtown Covington.
