At Bardine’s, we believe in supporting American farmers.

That’s why **we only use beef raised in America — and whenever possible, beef purchased directly from local farmers or what we raise here on the farm. We believe our customers deserve to know where their beef comes from, and our local farmers deserve our support.

Right now, the American cattle herd is at its **lowest level since 1950.** That didn’t happen overnight, and rebuilding the herd won’t happen overnight either.

🐄 **It takes time to rebuild a cattle herd.**

A farmer can’t simply decide today to raise more cattle and have finished beef on the market next month. It takes **roughly two years or more** to breed, raise and bring those cattle to market.

And farmers need **solid, sustainable cattle prices** during that time to make the investment worthwhile. Feed, land, equipment, labor, fuel and everything else involved in raising cattle continue to cost money. If cattle prices don't provide farmers with enough return, fewer young people will want to stay in the business and fewer cattle will be raised.

If we want to have a strong American beef supply for the future, **we need American farmers to be able to make a living raising cattle today.**

So when you buy American beef — especially beef raised by a farmer right here in our own area — **you’re doing more than buying a steak or a roast.**
