On Saturday, I walked through the doors of the Red Schoolhouse — the very same Red Schoolhouse where I spent two unforgettable years earning my associate’s degree in Dairy Farm Management over 15 years ago. This time, though, I wasn’t there as a student — I was there as part of the Vermont Annual Farm Bureau Meeting.
Did you know you don’t have to be a farmer to be a member of the Vermont Farm Bureau? Joining is a meaningful way to support not only dairy farms, but all types of farms — and, really, all of Vermont agriculture.
Agriculture in Vermont is facing real challenges, and in many ways, it’s slowly fading. Yes, buying milk, cheese, and other local products helps, but membership in the Vermont Farm Bureau goes even further. It helps ensure that Vermont’s agricultural voice stays strong — protecting the future of farming, food, and our rural communities.
And if you join as an Orleans County Farm Bureau member, you’ll also be invited to our annual county meeting every October at The Eastside Restaurant in Newport. It’s a wonderful evening — a free meal, good company, and an opportunity to listen, learn, and share what’s working (and what’s not) for agriculture in our state.
If you care about Vermont’s farms, fields, and food, consider joining us. Your support truly makes a difference.
