-Aswad Persian eggplant
-Pingtung long Asian style eggplant

We soil be selling all 5 varieties this Sunday at the Marlboro Farmers Market

Fall is ridge gourd season here at Snapping Turtle Farm. These delicious edible gourds are sometimes called Chinese okra because they can be used like okra. This vegetable is common in South Asian and East Asian cooking. We plant the vines in Spring but don’t start to get gourds until late August when the short days signal the plant it’s time to fruit and then we get a few weeks of harvest until frost. For sale this Saturday at the West Windsor Community Farmers' Market from 9AM to 1PM.

Sale!
Markets canceled but we already harvested!
Buy the vegetables listed below directly from our farm in Cranbury. When we got notice that due to high winds both of our markets are canceled this weekend we had already harvested the products below. So we are selling directly to you at reduced prices. Pick up is Saturday morning between 9AM and 1PM and Sunday morning between 9AM and 1PM. You need to text me that you are coming at 650-248-6663 so I can make sure you can find us. You can pay ahead via credit card to reserve produce or pay cash/card when you arrive.
-Tomatoes $3 per pound
-Eggplant $3 per pound
-Cherry tomatoes $5 per pint
-Okra $4 per pint
-Bitter melon (both the spiky variety and the smooth variety) $3 per pound
-Ridge gourd $3 per pound
-Jalapeño peppers $2 per 1/2 pint or $6 per pound wholesale pricing 1 pound minimum
-Habanero peppers $2 per 1/2 pint or $6 per pound wholesale pricing 1 pound minimum
-Bell peppers (green) $3.50 per quart

We love this heart shaped tomato! ❤️❤️❤️
Some of our customers are surprised that not all of our vegetables look “perfect” this is because in addition to “perfect” looking vegetables we bring slightly odd shaped vegetables to market rather than composting them. Some of heirloom varieties don’t fit the “perfect” looking vegetable image. They still taste wonderful and this is our part of reducing food waste.

Starting this Sunday September 27 we are returning to the Marlboro Farmers Market for the remainder of the season. This market is every Sunday 9AM to 1PM at 444 Route 520 (Just west of Rt. 79). We hope to see you there!

“What is Gongura?” is a common question we get at market. Gongura is the name in Telugu for the leaf of the hibiscus variety known as roselle or red sorrel in English. The Gongura leaf gives food a lemony acidic flavor. In India it is often cooked with lentils but is also used in chutneys and in pickling and other dishes. We will be selling bunches of Gongura leaves at the West Windsor Community Farmers' Market every Saturday until first frost which is usually mid-October.
