Chicken social hierarchy is absolutely hilarious!
In my main pen, I have 2 roosters and 12 hens. One is a big, beautiful Silkie who clearly runs the place. The other is a teeny-tiny, 3-month-old Serama who may or may not have a Napoleon complex. 😂
Watching them establish their little kingdoms has been fascinating. They've naturally divided themselves by breed, with the Silkie claiming 9 girls and the tiny Serama getting 3. And one of his girls is a Silkie the rest of the flock rejected. We lovingly call her the “ugly girl.” 💜
Naturally, this got me thinking... roosters are such little feathered pigs! 🐷
Give them too few girls, and suddenly everyone's getting over-loved. They hoard their favorites, squabble over the ladies, and apparently have no problem flirting (and more) with multiple girls right in front of each other! Meanwhile, we humans are out here providing food, shelter, and a front-row seat to all the drama.
WHAT KIND OF TINY FEATHERED MEN ARE WE RAISING HERE?! 🤣🤣🤣
