My poor little Naomi got an abscess in her hoof and could barely walk. Beau had to be separated from her so the vet could treat her and he threw a fit, kicking and braying. The last picture is them back together and her hoof is bandaged.

Lots of sweet potatoes this year. This is not all. I’m curing them in burlap bags. I cut up one tonight for mashed sweet potatoes for dinner and it was like sawing through a locust tree. The first frost date for our zone is approaching so I’d better get busy with the last of the harvest. No pictures. The garden looks like a Halloween horror show.

Squash time in the garden. The ones in the mop bucket are sweet dumplings. They taste a lot like acorn squash. They also make pretty fall arrangements. I like to grow gourds and pumpkins for fall decorating. The seeds are cheap and it saves a lot of money. I still have more to harvest before the first frost so stay tuned.

I’ve been so busy and have not been able to post lately. The harvest of corn was rather poor. Everything else has done pretty well. Visitors to the farm leave with a bag of vegetables.

Tonight was zucchini boats, previously I made zucchini fritters, fried zucchini, etc., etc…Fall is definitely the time to plant zucchini. At least it has worked for me this year.

Some of the sweet potatoes 🍠 weigh nearly 5 #! I’m getting rather tired of all the work, but oh so thankful for the Lord’s blessing.

I blanched and froze 32 pint bags of carrots. Here are some pictures of the newcomer Dexters. We will have a couple of calves in the spring. The new heifers have adjusted nicely with the others. I love the temperament of the Dexters. We have their winter hay in. We’re ready for some cooler weather. This heat is hard on the animals.

Fall garden pics. It has been a struggle with extreme heat and bugs. Tomatoes got blight but some are recovering. The corn is attacked by some sort of beetle. Neem oil seems to have helped. Green beans are done and I did not can enough for the year. I did plant a few plants for fall fresh eating. I underplanted the tomatoes with edamame,cow peas and beans. I grew lots of fall squash, birdhouse gourds, swan gourds, decorative pumpkins. There are some mini watermelon which I grew for fun. Cucumbers did not do well, but neighbors came through and I canned dill pickles.

Harvested carrots today and were blessed with 3 gallons once the tops were off. Any ideas for use for the carrot tops?
