Update #2: we have a quarter available at DownRange Processing and a quarter available at Oldfield Packing.

Edit: we have half a beef available for an October 27th butcher date at downrange processing and we now have a quarter beef available for a December 9th butcher date at Oldfield packing.

We have 3/4 of a beef available that will be going to DownRange Processing, LLC on October 27th. $3.25 per lb live weight plus butchering costs. Our next available butcher date is January 13th 2027.

We got our Sudan baled today. Today seem to be filled with mishaps. We had two flat tires, had one Baler breakdown twice. The first time was an easy fix, I just had to send Josette to Rogersville to pick a part up. Only took about 10 minutes to fix the part. And I was able to Jerry rig it enough to make it kind of work until she got back with the part. The second breakdown needs major repair. It's the Baler we use to make halage. Our other Baler has never worked very well putting haylage up so we only use it on dry hay. I went back to the house and swapped Balers and went back and finished about 8 Acres of Sudan. It actually bailed it really well and didn't have too many issues. The good news is we got our hay put up in pretty good shape and everybody went home safe! We even got about half the hay hauled back to the house. I still have to haul the rest of the hay and wrap it tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the help Josette and Piper, we appreciate you guys. Piper is Josette's sister-in-law and best friend. She started with us about a month ago and is working part-time as she goes to OTC for an agricultural degree. And she's also the daughter of friends of ours. I went to school with her mom and was really good friends with her dad's cousin so I saw him all the time when I was a kid. They also farm and have cattle.
