Watermelons, Cantaloupes, and Peaches will be here in the store on Monday! Youāve waited so long for the sweet taste of summer and you do not want to miss out! Here is your shopping and travel guide from us. We want you to make the most of your trip when youāre coming to see us here in Crawford this summer and all year round too!
- The most important of them all:
CHECK FACEBOOK OFTEN! This is our main line of communication! Itās your ever changing messageboard! I post a full list of inventory early Monday morning every week. When I bring new items during the week and when items have sold out or are on their way out, youāll see it right here! And donāt just wait to see the post, but search for our page āStrickland Pride Produceā in the search bar to find the most recent posts here so you will never miss a thing, MS. THING!
- To piggyback on the points made above, Iāll make it even more simple. Most of the answers to your questions are right here on this page. But we are glad to answer, regardless!
- If you call my phone (708-382-0582), I promise Iāll do my best to return your call in a reasonable amount of time. Feel free to leave a voicemail, text, or private inbox message here on Facebook. Itās been super busy here and I never want to pick up a phone when a customer is standing in front me.
- When it comes to PEACHES, stock up! If you eat peaches all summer long, consider purchasing a half bushel box or at least several baskets. Be sure to check for our bulk/wholesale prices each week. Peach half bushel boxes will be running somewhere between $37 and $45 this season.
- We are trying to get away from holding peaches for customers. We may be able to slide with holding a half bushel box here or there if you know that you are on the way to get them. We are also moving away from excessive touching on peaches. It bruises them so terribly. Peaches are just very delicate. Please donāt take any of that personally!
- When it comes to PEACHES, remember they will be firm when they are here and maybe even a little hard but give them a day or two to ripen and soften. If we could find a way to bring a fully ripened peach off the tree to you without bruises and juice spilling out the basket, trust me, all of us in this line of business would do it. We will have samples so you can trust what youāre buying.
- If you ever purchase a MELON that is underripe or overripe, please let me know and it will be replaced. You donāt have to bring it back. Just take a picture. We get some amazing watermelons but there will always a be some duds from the same patch. With even our best indicators from a brown stem to a yellow sun spot and a hollow thump for a good melon, no one can ever guarantee what is inside of a watermelon. That is a fact you can take straight to the bank.
- We carry different varieties of seeded, seedless, red, yellow, and orange watermelons from now through August. What we carry week to week may vary based on the quality and availability of the melons each week. We only want the best. I do not discriminate when it comes to seeded versus seedless or red versus yellow. They are all grown naturally and the farmers that grow them can tell you that too. God provided them all for us to enjoy in one way or another and that is my only two cents on that.
- CANTALOUPE season is short! Donāt snooze!
- Last but not leastā¦and 99.9 percent of you do not need to hear this. Please, be GRACIOUS, be KIND, and be PATIENT. I think I speak for all produce men and women, farmers, and so on when I say that. Summertime tends to bring out a lot of angst. It is about to be hot, it may be a little crowded in here, and we may be running back and forth trying to assist everyone. We may even be out of your favorite item. But please understand and be easy. We all only want good vibes and good times in here, all year round.
