On Oct 15th and 16th SERF hosted Ag Exploration, its annual event aimed at introducing high school students to career opportunities in agriculture. The event featured five interactive, hands-on learning stations focused on Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, and Horticulture.
In addition to the learning stations, students took part in a mini college fair with representatives from Iowa State University and local community colleges. They also had the opportunity to engage with local agricultural business leaders during a career panel discussion centered on education, career paths, and the qualities employers value in future employees.
Over the two-day event, SERF welcomed more than 300 students from 27 high schools to the farm. This impactful experience was made possible thanks to generous support from local agricultural businesses, as well as the dedication of county staff and state specialists. And who knows—hopefully we made a few new Cyclones along the way!
