This is what the bird dog life is truly about. There will always be the ones that think it's about stacking as many as possible on a tailgate of a pickup and taking a picture. Then there is my crowd, the ones that have unlocked the magic of it all. The deep-rooted love and respect for the birds, along with being stewards and conservators of both them and the land. Handling them with the dignity and reverence they deserve, and thanking them for their sacrifice in prayer. Only harvesting what you will consume, and never taking more than you give back. The thrill of watching your dog think, develop, problem-solve, and get excited themselves, knowing that watching them work is poetry in motion, and sharing in those moments is nothing short of a religious experience.
The foot of the king. To hold these amazing birds in your hand after an awesome dog performance and crafty bird maneuvers…. They easily gain your respect.
